Abstract
With the increased emphasis upon education in recent years there has been an attest to determine the relative value of various activities which are usually carried out in the schools, Some practices, because of their high position on the scale of values, are to be stressed{ others, because of their relatively low importance, are to be eliminated.
The keeping of pupil records has been listed as one activity quite worthy of inclusion and much information, as to how this should be done has been prepared. To what extent this information is being utilized by negro elementary schools of loses remiss an unanswered question. It is often assumed that one could find all of these schools keeping accurate, clear, and useful records If one should investigate. It is often felt that because of the value generally attached to the keeping of records, in theory, the practices of keeping records would be in keeping with the theory. Others feel that only a few schools actually take any time with this tedious job. None of these assumptions have. however, been verified by existing experimental evidence.
