Abstract
Nacogdoches, the county seat of Nacogdoches, was established by the Spaniards in 1779. It is the second oldest town in Texas, located on the old san Antonio road the oldest road in Texas. It lies between Houston, Texas, and Shreveport, Louisiana.
The county is comprised of 12 common school districts entertaining colored schools and 15 districts entertaining white schools. These are five independent districts for white and colored schools.
