Abstract
THE PROBLEM 1. To determine the tenancy rate of 40 farmers in Angelina County, Texas. 2. To determine the socio-economic relations of tenancy. 3. To arrive at some recommendations for improving the farm tenancy system in the county.
The system of farm tenancy does not appear to be satisfactory for all parties concerned. That is, arrangements do not safeguard adequately the rights of the landlord or the tenant.
Rural community development seems to be at a stand still. Community institutions are not very active. This necessitates a study of these conditions to determine the extent to which the prevailing forms of tenancy affect the lives and activities of these farm people.
This study is also intended to determine the extent to which 40 farmers of Angelina County, Texas are engaged in the various types of farming that are best suited to their area.
