About This Journal
The Journal of Multicultural Adolescent Psychology (JMAP) is an international, peer-reviewed academic journal focused on illuminating the developmental, sociocultural, and contextual factors that shape adolescent well-being. Recognizing adolescence as a critical developmental period marked by identity formation, social transitions, and increased environmental demands, JMAP centers the experiences of youth whose development unfolds within diverse cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and global contexts. The journal publishes high-quality empirical research, theoretical papers, systematic reviews, mixed-method studies, and community-engaged scholarship that expands what is known about adolescent mental, emotional, behavioral, academic, and social functioning. Special emphasis is placed on research that addresses cultural identity development and intersectionality; trauma, adversity, resilience, and post-traumatic growth; inequities resulting from systemic or structural barriers; culturally responsive or evidence-based interventions; and applied and translational science that informs real-world practice.
JMAP serves as a bridge between research, practice, and policy. By amplifying multicultural and global perspectives, the journal supports knowledge that strengthens clinical care, educational settings, juvenile justice reform, community systems, and public policy. The journal invites contributions from psychologists, mental health professionals, educators, community researchers, policymakers, and interdisciplinary scholars committed to improving outcomes for adolescents everywhere.
