Abstract
The junior high school is a comparatively new organization in our school system today. Its expansion and development are of particular interest to the writer. The junior high school faces many problems in programs, personnel, and facilities in the field of physical education; it is the aim of this writer to determine the nature end extent of these problems as revealed by the data.
The problem in this study was to assemble all of the available data relating to the physical education program for boys in the Negro junior high schools of Texas. A questionnaire was used to collect the data applicable to this study which would be the basis for analyzing the programs end arriving at a valid conclusion. The paper consists of a brief history of the development of the junior high school in the United States; a brief history of physical education and authentic data regarding the personnel, facilities, and programs of health and physical education for boys in the junior high schools of Texas.
The purpose of this paper was to make a survey of the physical education program for boys of the Negro junior high schools of Texas. The writer was particularly interested in the physical education program for the boys in the junior high schools because of his experience as a teacher of health and physical education in such schools.
This study was made with the hope that the findings might in some way he instrumental in pointing out some of the problems of the junior high schools in Texas.
