Abstract
In the preparation of this study the writer has endeavored to point out the present status of the part-time farming conditions in Walker County, Texas.
There's a way of living that means more security and added happiness for many American families.
The name, "part-time Farming," has become attached to this way of life that combines country living with city working. There are many men that are making one thousand dollars or more profit from the operation of their part-time farms. There are many more who are adding five hundred dollars or more to their income in terms ofproduce that has been raised and consumed by the family.
Soil and man are considered among the most valuable natural resources, so any activities that might lead to the better improvements of either should be considered worthy of any attention that can be given. The writer feels that the business of part-time farming for small farmers need much attention.
The purpose of this study is to determine the status of the part-time farmers in Walker County, Texas and suggest areas of improvemets.
The problem is limited to fifty (50) part-time farmers located in Walker County, Texas. Other activities are considered indirectly; but the primary emphasis is placed on the status of the individual part-time farmer.
