Abstract
As a result of the fact that children love to read the unenthusiastic response at Carver High School is abnormal and should be studied with a view to its correction. The present study is therefore designed to ascertain the reading habits of the students of Naples High School and on the basis of experimentation, to recommend such remedial measures as are justified by authoritative findings.
The study concerns itself with free, independent and recreational reading, otherwise called leisure time reading of the students. It recognizes that such factors as greater clarity of interpretation, greater accuracy in word recognition and greater power of comprehension are important in a complete analysis of reading skills, but does not concern itself directly with the study of these factors.
