Abstract
Statement of Problem
Among the third parties know in texas is the people's party, which wielded powerful influences in the last decade of the nineteenth century. A historical discussion of that party leads naturally to the same questions which arise with reference to any third party. What were the conditions from which grew the movement leading to the organization of this party? What classes did it draw upon for its strength and what was the program with which it attracted disgruntled elements? what did the third party accomplish? In addition to the usual questions which Doctor Rosco C. Martin of Alabama university has answered satisfactorily in his monograph.
