Abstract
The purpose of this study was to provide information which may be used in planning educational services for potential high school dropouts in the Houston, Texas area in occupations which they may enter. In approaching this problem, an attempt was made: 1. To determine the type of training which might be needed. 2. To determine the types of jobs available for people with less than a high school diploma. 3. To determine the academic courses needed by potential dropouts. 4. To find out what basic skills were needed in preparatory training for employment.
This study was limited in that only job opportunities for potential high school dropouts in the Houston, Texas area were considered. A further limitation was that only job opportunities in a cross section of fifty (50) industries in the Houston, Texas area were considered.
