Abstract
Home Economics is valuable as it contributes to attaining the large objectives through which education may be realized. Drawing on many fields of knowledge for its basic materials, it applies these materials to problems of personal living, and home life. This in itself will make a rich body of subject matter. Its special contributions will come through guiding individuals in reaching decisions, as to values most morthwhile in personal living in home and family life, in discovering needs, interests, and talents which come within the field of home economics.
In the preparation of this thesis the purpose was twofold. First to find facts concerning the conditions as they exist in the home economics department of the Abilene High School, second, to suggest how the conditions can be improved by additional equipment and work in the department.
