Abstract
It is the opinion of many educators that the social studies should become the foundation of all school work. More and more the school is being recognized as a great national agency, for the socialization of individuals. To be socialized means the adaptation and adjustment of an individual to the social group. To be socialized is to be possessed of group consciousness, to be humanized and to be broadminded toward all one's associates and in all relations. A study of man and his activities has always been said to contribute to this end. Therefore the subjects of history, literature, language, and philosophy, have been given a prominent place, in every humanistic curriculum. But the foremost rank has been given to history.
