Abstract
This study has been made of some of the characteristics of the Textile Labeling Law which went into effect March 3, 1960. These characteristics have been studied in the light of those principles which are considered valuable to the consumer. Suggested plans for improvement, and additions have also been made for the aid of the consumer.
The purposes of this study have been:
- To ascertain, in so far as possible, the value of the new textile labeling law to consumers.
- To determine whether the new law adequately provides the types of protection needed by the consumers.
- To determine how many of the protective clauses, as stated in the law, are of value to the consumers.
- To make tentative recommendations, based on those principles which are considered valid by authorities on consumer education.
This study has offered an opportunity to analyze the new textile labeling legislation which affects the vast number of consumers who will be purchasing and using textiles.
