Abstract
It is of comparatively recent times, with regard to modern chemical science, that the importance of the dye industry he a been brought to bear on the mind of industrial America. Germany, France, end Greet Britain had realized the importance of the dye industry far in advance of the American recognition. However, at the opening of the world war, the Germans had Just about monopolized the industry, because of these feet the Germans had received most of the advantages that accrued from e study of so important an activity. A few statements will serve to make say my meaning clear in this respect. It is of common knowledge today, mom those who have studied chemical science, that Germany, in working with her dyes became considerably proficient and learned in the science of polynuclear compounds. Many of the medicines explosives, poison faces, and other materials directly usable in the scale conflicts were discovered by the Germans while searching for and experimenting with new dyestuffs.
