Abstract
There is increasing concern for the worth and progress of the individual, as well as for the importance of education. This concern and the values in our culture that have given rise to the concept of counseling and guidance in our schools are being reinforced. The concept must be one that involves, at varying degrees, the home, school and community. To coordinate these in the counseling and guidance services requires cooperation. Responsibilities need to be identified for the counselor, teachers, home, administrators and community. It is mandatory that each individual or agency recognize that their efforts are important for the best development of our nation's most important product, our youth.
This study is concerned with the counseling and guidance services for the elementary and high school, and the cooperation that is necessary between the counselors, teachers, home and community. This is not a technique study, but rather a study to show importance of having a totally balanced and coordinated counseling and guidance program for each student. This study is intended to describe how the counselor, in cooperation with the staff, home, and community, can best carry on his work and contribute, at the same time, to the goals of the total educational program.
