Abstract
This study was concerned with the game of football, its development and rule changes from 1940 to 1951 inclusive as they relate to the game as it is carried on in our universities, colleges and high schools.
It was the purpose of this study (1) to show how the game we now enjoy as football evolved from other games played by other nations; (2) to find out when, where and by whom the first football game was played in America; (3) to find what rulings individuals and institutions contributed to the game of football; and (4) to state the major rule changes in schoolboy football from 1940 to 1951 inclusive.
