Abstract
This investigation was an attempt on the part of the writer to determine what the responsibilities of the superintendent and principal are toward the place of the physical education program in the curriculum of the modern high school.
The purpose of the present study is to bring into focus the need of further study and research as to the responsibilities of the principal and superintendent to the physical education program if it is to succeed in the curriculum of the present day high school. Little research has been done in this area. In light of an every increasing emphasis on so-called academic subjects, there is a tremendous need for research which may save physical education from classification as a second-or-third rate subject. The writer can think of no better way to begin than to look at physical education through the school principal and superintendent.
In confining this study to the superintendent and principal of the modern day high school, it may attempt too much. No one can hope to identify all of the responsibilities of the administrator to the curriculum or any segment in a single life time. Yet this study attempts to uncover those factions necessary for improving physical education in the modern high school.
