Abstract
The purpose of this study has been to show through a historical survey of research and other kinds of literature that the great changes at the elementary level from a subject matter and activity centered program to a life centered one, have become an essential part of public education. Through the evaluation of basic aims, experiences and concepts24 of home and family life education, general education and the elementary school an attempt was made to assemble an outline of plans for home and family life education to be used in certain areas of the course of study for boys and girls in grade 4.
24Concepts a present item of experience functioning in a symbolic capacity as a response to any one of a class of objects or relationships having a common characteristic. Margaret Curti, in Encyclopedia of Educational Research. (New York: The Macmillan Company, revised edition, 1950), pp. 157, 177.
