Abstract
It was the purpose of this study to (1) aid the reader in developing a factual understanding of the Economic Geography of the South Texas Plain; (2) To show the relationship between the natural environment and its bearing on the socio-economic environment; (3) To present maps, tables, climographs and descriptions as revealed through correspondences received from the local Chambers of Commerce a nd other sources to aid in the visual understanding of The South Texas Plain.
The socio-economic development has frequently been stressed as one of the most important aims in developing the relations between the natural environment and the economy of the region.
In the South Texas Plain, there are twenty-four (24) Counties. These Counties will be used in this study. This study does not include all of the towns a nd cities in the South Texas Plain, but only those that have a population of 2,000 or more according to the 1960 Bureau of the Census.
