Abstract
This study has been made for the purpose of showing the music background of regular session students entering Prairie View College for the years 1934-35 and 1935-36. The material was gathered from an inventory questionnaire, given to each student at the beginning of school through personal conferences. These questionnaires obtained information of the musical background and surroundings of the students and show the influences of the home, school and community.
For the year 1934-35, 227 students answered the questionnaire and for the year 1935-36, 164 answered it. There was little marked difference in these from each year but the experiences and reflections were very much the same in many instances.
