Optimizing equipment in-service durations and costs while taking technological progress into account

Abstract

Trunk-line theorems for optimal in-service durations of production system elements assert that, on long planning intervals the optimal trajectory approximates some curve or trunk-line, which does not depend on the initial conditions and the length of the planning interval. Taking the case of Kantorovich's model, an attempt is made to prove whether the cost of production system elements has trunk-line properties, that would allow establishment of important results about optimal strategies for technical renewal of production systems under technological progress conditions.
