Born on October 27, 1906, in Hempstead, Texas, Erma V. Stuart is the wife of judge John C. Winfree. She served on the thesis committee of graduate students in the 1960s. She became a judge in Waller County after her husband died in 1961. She was the only female judge in the history of Waller County. She declined to run in the following election of 1962. She died in 1998, she is buried in Hempstead, Waller County, Texas.
