Abstract

The purpose of this study was (1) to investigate what authorities would consider a good instrumental music program, (2) to analyze the instrumental music program of the four selected middle schools and, (3) to compare the two programs.

The study looked for answers to these questions: 1. What do leading authorities suggest is a good instrumental music program? 2. What does the instrumental program of the four selected middle schools consist of? 3. What are the similarities of the two programs?

This study involved limitations as follows: 1. 10 books 2. 15 Instrumentalist Music Magazines 3. 3 Interviews from the middle school hand directors. 4. 1 Manual Form
